Domenic (Dom) Belmonte, Board Chair
Domenic is a Partner in Canada’s PwC’s Consulting practice. He has over 30 years of public sector experience in Canada and globally, both as a consultant and public servant, and is recognized for his expertise in government program operations and service delivery, strategy, governance, and organizational development. He specializes in complex, enterprise transformation initiatives that include large-scale program, technical and organizational change in public sector organizations.
Chad Glendinning, Board Vice-Chair
Chad is a canon lawyer and educator. In 2010, he joined the Faculty of Canon Law at Saint Paul University, Ottawa, and has served as Dean since 2022. In addition to his work at the university, he has served as consultant to various individuals and organizations and has been appointed to serve on a variety of ecclesiastical tribunals in Canada and the United States.
Robert Haslett, Board Treasurer
Robert owns and operates Haslett Construction, located in Ottawa.
He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and has a broad depth in the field of corporate governance and structure. Robert was the past Chair of St. Patrick’s Long-Term Care Home in Ottawa.
Meaghan Sharp, President and CEO
Meaghan, who joined CHSO and CCLC in July 2024, is excited to return to Catholic Health to support the Board Members, and many partners, on continuing to build upon the legacy of caring for the most vulnerable.
Meaghan is extremely mission driven, and dedicated to excellence in care for the patients, residents, and clients that we ultimately serve.
Meaghan has over 20 years of extensive management and leadership experience in Catholic Health, Long-Term Care, Complex Care and Rehabilitation, Seniors’ Community Health, Acute Care, and Health Policy and Planning, being previously employed by Ontario Health (Provincial).
Meaghan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science – Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Health Leadership) and is currently enrolled in a Master of Business Administration Program.
Outside of work, Meaghan is passionate about fitness and has returned to competitive swimming and is currently the Vice President on the Board of Swimming Canada. Meaghan also adores gardening and fashion.
Sister Josie McKechnie, Board Member
Dr. Josie is a Registered Clinical Psychologist (Ph.D.) and nurse (BScN). She has served over 35 years in Catholic Health Care Ministry, both in the hospital sector, residential treatment, and community mental health & addiction services. Josie served as the Executive Director of a non-profit counselling and spirituality centre in Sudbury, Ontario. She has been a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie since 1982 and is currently the administrator of St. Joseph’s Motherhouse in North Bay. She was recently elected to the community’s leadership team.
Josie has served on St. Joseph’s Health Centre board (Sudbury). She maintains her clinical interest in Addictions, Trauma and Mood Disorders by serving as an Advisory Board member for the Women’s Religious Treatment Program at Guesthouse, Inc. (Michigan, USA).
Josie is interested in the care and support of vulnerable elderly, especially regarding the connections between integrated supportive housing and the promotion of health.
Dr. Hazel Markwell, Board Member
Hazel is Professor of Theology and holder of the Chair in Clinical and Organizational Bioethics, Saint Paul University, Ottawa
Hazel is the Inaugural Chair in Clinical and Organizational Ethics at Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Ontario. She is also the Theology, Ethics and Policy advisor to the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada.
Simon Burke, Board Member
Simon is a former civil servant with the Ontario and Canadian governments. He has led corporate governance reviews and strategic transformations for a variety of government programs and agencies. He was Director of Ontario’s Pay Equity Office and Senior Executive Officer of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Additionally, he served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Citizenship and Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Career highlights include leading consultations for the Attorney General’s Aboriginal Justice Strategy, an Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Canada’s Americas Strategy. He is a graduate of Western University, and has post-graduate qualifications in law, business administration and public administration from the University of Dundee, the University of Durham and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has worked as an Assistant with L’Arche in Stratford and Montreal and as an Independent Assessor for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto. He is a member of the first cohort of the University of St. Michael’s College Program in Interfaith Dialogue.
Ryan Kilger, Board Member
Ryan is a lawyer with Vincent Dagenais Gibson LLP/s.r.l. in Ottawa. He advises clients on matters including corporate governance, incorporations and reorganizations with a focus on not-for-profit corporations and charities.
Ryan is currently Chair of the Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation in Ottawa, and Vice-Chair of the Rockcliffe Park Foundation.
Gordon Self, Board Member
Gordon served over 40 years in the Catholic health care ministry, the last half as an executive leader in mission and ethics with Covenant Health in Edmonton, AB. where he continues to reside. His education includes Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry.
Dr. Self has a strong interest in and passion for CHSO’s Ministry, and, through his appointment to CHSO, is an example of how sponsors across the country can work together, especially in the face of common challenges and opportunities sponsors face.
Gar Knutson, Board Member
Gar Knutson grew up in Toronto after being born in St. Michael’s Hospital. He attended University of Toronto, University of Windsor (Law) and Western University (business). His career includes 11 years as a Member of Parliament from 1993 to 2004. Currently Gar is semi-retired earning a living as a part-time Small Claims Court Judge.
For the past 5 years, Gar has been a board member of Care for Health and Community Services which is Ottawa’s and eastern Ontario’s largest non-profit homecare health services provider.
Tom Woods, Board Member
Tom is a retired senior executive of CIBC and currently sits on the boards of St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, Bank of America Corporation, Merrill Lynch International, Bank of America Securities Europe (Chair), the Institute of Corporate Directors (Chair) and the Toronto Catholic Diocese Finance Council.
He was the inaugural Board Chair of Unity Health Toronto (2017-2019), Board Chair of Covenant House Toronto (2010-2012) and has sat on the boards of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Toronto, Covenant House International and De La Salle College.
